Where an administration rule records the exception for one client, a global rule records the standard for the whole firm. Examples are agreements such as merging lines with the same GL account and VAT code, or always booking invoices from certain national suppliers to a fixed expense type. Global rules thereby form the firm's booking policy.
For a firm with multiple employees and teams, a global rule ensures uniformity. Without a recorded standard, every employee books slightly differently, which makes comparing clients harder and review heavier. With global rules, a working agreement changes in one place rather than separately in dozens or hundreds of administrations.
