This cookie policy explains which cookies and similar technologies we use on our website, for what purpose, how long they remain on your device and how you can manage your preferences.
1. What are cookies (and similar technologies)?
-
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website.
-
Similar technologies include pixels, tags, SDKs, local storage and session storage.
-
We distinguish between first-party cookies (from Autoboeker) and third-party cookies (from external parties such as Google, Meta and Microsoft).
2. Which categories do we use?
We use a consent banner (CMP) that allows you to make your choice per category. Only Necessary cookies are always placed; Analytics and Marketing/UX cookies are placed only after you opt in.
-
Necessary – Required for basic functions, security, load balancing and remembering your consent choice.
-
Analytics – Helps us measure how the site is used (e.g. pages, devices, sessions) in order to improve the website.
-
Marketing/UX – For advertising, conversion tracking and user experience (e.g. heatmaps and session recordings).
You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings (link in the footer).
3. Which tools do we use (website)?
-
Google Analytics (statistics)
-
Meta Pixel (advertising/conversion)
-
Microsoft Clarity (UX analysis: heatmaps/session recordings)
Analytics and marketing tools only load after consent. Some providers process data outside the EEA (including the US). In such cases, EU-approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) are used and those parties apply additional measures.
4. Examples of cookies and retention periods

In addition to cookies, we may use local/session storage to store preferences or temporary session data (e.g. the status of the cookie banner). This data is not shared with third parties and is erased when you reset/clear your browser settings.
5. Legal basis
-
Necessary cookies: legitimate interest (a properly functioning and secure website).
-
Analytics and Marketing/UX: consent (opt-in via the cookie banner).
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time via Cookie settings.
6. Managing your choices
-
Cookie settings: click the link in the footer to change your choice.
-
Browser: delete cookies via your browser settings and block them from being placed in future (please note: the site may then not work as well).
-
Ad preferences: manage personalised advertising via your Google/Meta accounts.
-
Do Not Track: we take your browser settings into account where technically possible, but DNT is not uniformly supported everywhere.
7. Sharing data with third parties
We do not sell personal data. We only share data with our service providers/processors (hosting, analytics, marketing) who act on our instructions. We only share data with competent authorities where required by law.
8. Retention periods
We retain cookie data for no longer than necessary:
-
Necessary: session up to a maximum of 1 year.
-
Analytics: generally 14–26 months.
-
Marketing/UX: typically 90–180 days, sometimes longer depending on the provider.
The exact lifetimes are shown in the cookie banner.
9. Security and international transfers
We take appropriate security measures (including TLS). For transfers to countries outside the EEA, the providers concerned use SCCs and appropriate safeguards.
10. Your privacy rights
For access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability or questions about consent, you can email info@autoboeker.nl. You can also lodge a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (Dutch Data Protection Authority).
11. Changes
We may amend this cookie policy. The most recent version is always available on this page. Do you have any questions? Please contact us at info@autoboeker.nl or +31 (0)85 081 8900.
