What is AI bank matching?
AI bank matching uses artificial intelligence to link bank transactions to the invoices, credit notes and bookings they belong to. Once a payment is linked to the right open item, that item can be reconciled and no longer shows as outstanding.
A fixed rule looks at one attribute such as description or counter account. AI bank matching weighs several signals at once and states how confident the match is, so payments with an unusual description, a partial amount or a combined reference are recognised, and doubtful cases become visible instead of being reconciled wrongly.
How does AI bank matching work in Autoboeker?
Autoboeker synchronises bank lines from the accounting software, so the bank feed itself keeps running through Exact Online, Twinfield or SnelStart. For each transaction it finds the most likely open item and calculates a confidence score from amount, reference, IBAN, contact and date. Above your threshold it reconciles automatically; below it the match waits as a proposal. Deviating payments are flagged and unmatched transactions are surfaced per administration.
Which transactions can AI bank matching handle?
Usability lies in the exceptions. Autoboeker recognises and matches:
- Regular invoice payments, by amount, reference and contact.
- Partial payments of one invoice in several instalments.
- Credit notes against the related invoice.
- Payment arrangements and recurring payments.
- Payments in foreign currency.
- PayPal payments.
- Deviating payments, highlighted rather than silently reconciled.
What happens to bank transactions without a match?
Instead of parking them on a suspense account with an email that waits weeks for a reply, Autoboeker turns an unexplained transaction into a client question in the portal or app, linked to the transaction. The client's receipt, invoice or explanation is analysed, scored, booked and matched. Incomplete? Reject or re-send in the same context.
Which accounting software supports AI bank matching?
AI bank matching and automatic reconciliation are available for Exact Online, Twinfield and SnelStart (SnelStart requires an Accountant or InOrde package). They are not available for e-Boekhouden.
| Accounting software | AI bank matching | Automatic reconciliation | Question when no match |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exact Online | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Twinfield | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| SnelStart | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| e-Boekhouden | No | No | Questions for documents only |
Bank matching, reconciliation and bank reconciliation: what is the difference?
Bank matching finds the right open item for a transaction. Reconciling (afletteren) books that open item off against the payment. Bank reconciliation is the wider check that balances and movements in the books agree with the bank statement. AI bank matching speeds up all three.
How do you set the threshold for automatic reconciliation?
Start cautiously and raise automation where patterns are stable. Deviations stay highlighted whatever the threshold.
- 1Connect Exact Online, Twinfield or SnelStart and choose administrations.
- 2Let Autoboeker synchronise bank lines and propose matches.
- 3Review proposals and their scores for a few weeks.
- 4Capture fixed patterns as custom matching rules or firm-wide policy.
- 5Turn on automatic reconciliation above a suitable threshold.
- 6Let unmatched transactions go to the client automatically.
