PEPPOL is an international network and set of standards for securely exchanging electronic invoices and other business documents between organisations through connected access points.

PEPPOL (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) started as a European project for electronic procurement and invoicing and is now used worldwide. Organisations connect through an access point and are reachable via a PEPPOL ID. An invoice is sent not as a PDF but as a structured file, usually in UBL format, so the recipient can read it in directly.
For a firm, e-invoicing via PEPPOL is becoming increasingly relevant. Government organisations in the Netherlands already receive invoices as e-invoices, and European regulation will make e-invoicing for business transactions more widely mandatory in the coming years. Structured invoices no longer need to be recognised from a PDF, which reduces errors. Clients will ask their firm how to send and receive e-invoices.
In Autoboeker, a PEPPOL integration for the invoicing module is coming soon; it is not live yet. The invoicing module itself already works with Exact Online, SnelStart, Twinfield and e-Boekhouden, with payment via iDEAL through Mollie, the EPC payment QR code and automatic reminders. Every invoice sent appears directly in the administration.
