What is invoice processing? Meaning and explanation
Invoice processing is the full process of receiving, checking, coding, approving and booking invoices in the books.
Definition
Invoice processing is the full process of receiving, checking, coding, approving and booking invoices in the books.
Also known as: Factuurverwerking, Facturen verwerken, Invoice processing, Crediteurenverwerking
It starts when an invoice arrives by email, upload or app and ends with a booking in the accounting software and a matched payment. In between the invoice is read, checked for VAT and invoice requirements, coded to GL account, VAT code and cost centre, and approved where needed.
For firms it is the largest block of recurring work. Manually an invoice takes about six minutes; with AI invoice processing it drops to around one minute of review, or none above the confidence threshold. Autoboeker automates it on Exact Online, Twinfield, SnelStart and e-Boekhouden without templates.
